Today’s market price of waste batteries
(When brought to Yachiyo Plant)
54 years of experience and one of the best technological capabilities in Japan
An extremely high level of skill and technology is required in order to thin lead and tin, which are soft metals, into foil-level thickness to create lead and tin foil.
In addition, lead and tin, the raw materials, are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain due to their rising value.
Against this backdrop, the number of lead and tin foil manufacturers in Japan has been decreasing year by year.
However, despite these circumstances, MATSUSHITA remains one of the few manufacturers in Japan based on the experience and trust we have gained over the 54 years since our establishment.
We believe this is because we are able to reliably respond to the needs and requests of our customers.
By further refining our accumulated experience and technology, MATSUSHITA will continue to be a leading company in lead and tin foil.
Authorized collector of waste batteries
In order to collect waste batteries, companies must first obtain official certification.
However, there are currently many collection companies that are not certified.
In addition, although the Basel Convention prohibits the export of waste batteries to foreign countries, some companies buy waste batteries from general consumers in Japan and sell them overseas as they can be sold at high prices.
MATSUSHITA is certified as a No. 216 Wide Area Small Certified Business Operator, and we are able to carry out the process in the right manner.
Relationship between lead and waste batteries
Batteries (lead-acid batteries) contain sulfuric acid, which is harmful to the human body and the environment, and are managed as specially controlled waste.
For this reason, there is a recycling system in place, and discarded lead-acid batteries are separated into lead, sulfuric acid, and plastic at intermediate treatment plants.
MATSUSHITA collects waste batteries and places them in the care of major intermediate processing companies.
MATSUSHITA then creates its own products from the lead smelted from these batteries.
